Thoughts about The Dark Knight Rises?

I think Nolan is gonna transcend comic book movies (as if he didn't
already do that with The Dark Knight) but movies in general. I can't
think of any other movie trilogy in history that is -meant- to end,
that people worldwide are looking forward to. We know it ends right
there with the third one, but we want it. Right there, that kind of
anticipation is practically unheard of in movies. We know this
character and want to know where his life will take him. In some ways,
this has gone beyond just fanboy anticipation to see Batman duke it
out with villains on the big screen; we want to see where this era of
Bruce Wayne's life left him- where this story arc ends.
Then he's ending it with Bane. For the first time, Nolan's Batman will
have his being as a whole, challenged. Someone who can and probably
will out-match his abilities. For the first time, Batman's ego will be
put into the equation. Joker was smart, but still a low-life that
really only threatened his city and loved ones. Scarecrow just invaded
his mind. Ra's was threatening, but was really only after his city. As
far as he knows, with Ra's dead, no one else is trained like him or
has his experience. After TDK he probably expects no one to really be
able to f*ck with him or his world in the same way again. I imagine in
the end Batman will not only need to stop Bane, but prove to himself
that he is better than Bane. Maybe that's why it's titled "Rises". A
metaphor for him knowingly rising to the challenge of someone more
capable than him, but also him finally rising as a "legend" like Ra's
described in the first film. Whatever Batman does goes through in
TDKR, it will be legendary.
